Hi,
Perhaps it's a good idea to make a basic ctkarch iso image available, which has only the basic applications installed. Having this two iso images to choose from, the normal with everything installed or the basic with only: pcmanfm Leafpad rxvt-unicode Obconf Obmenu tint2 etc. Letting the user decide which music player, web browser, office writer, pdf reader, paint gimp, chat messenger it wants to install is good. Because you won't get complains from people who don't like what's installed, this whay they can decide for themselves. Or perhaps someone want's to install ctkarch on a older system which hasn't got much disk space the basic iso would than be perfect. The idea comes from Crunchbang linux they had this two iso images to choose from the normal and the lite, the user decides which one to download. Lol I also posted this idea on the Archbang forums one of your competitors. |

It's planned, as I announced on the former website at http://calimeroteknik.free.fr/ctkarchlive
But as I felt like v0.6 wouldn't last long, I delayed that. Of course, you're welcome to download the sources, change the package-list and make a light version right now if you want to ! And it's not thunar I use, but pcmanfm. I don't really like the dependencies of thunar. I vaguely wrote this laRache™-compliant post-it last october : ![]() Note that hyp. 3 is unlikely to be released. |

Archiso is pretty simple, it uses pacman to install packages in a "root" folder, then compresses it to a squashfs archive.
You must add the kernel, an initrd (that you should generate with support for most storage media) and a bootloader. Then everything is put into an ISO image with genisoimage. You could do everything by hand, but archiso saves some work. (PS, just out of curiosity, what's your native language?) |

Calimero I read the instructions on the wiki, but when building the iso it gives me two errors.
Perhaps you can help me? it show this erros: The first error shows: ERROR: Root file system type detection failed. Second error: shows sed "s|@ARCH@|i686|g" isomounts > "work"/mydir/isomounts /bin/sh: work/mydir/isomounts: File or map doesn't exist. make: *** ["work"/mydir/isomounts] error 1 mkinitcpio -c ./mkinitcpio.conf -b "work"/root-image -k `uname -r` -g "work"/iso/boot/kernel26.img :: Begin build :: Parsing hook [base] :: Parsing hook [udev] :: Parsing hook [memdisk] :: Parsing hook [archiso] :: Parsing hook [archiso_pxe_nbd] :: Parsing hook [archiso_loop_mnt] :: Parsing hook [pata] :: Parsing hook [scsi] :: Parsing hook [sata] :: Parsing hook [usb] :: Parsing hook [fw] :: Parsing hook [pcmcia] :: Parsing hook [filesystems] :: Parsing hook [usbinput] :: Generating module dependencies :: Generating image 'work/iso/boot/kernel26.img'...SUCCESS I made a isomounts file but it seems it doesn't get detected, I'll look further. Thank u! |

Apparently, you didn't change the "work" and "mydir" folders for the good ones?
When there is "mydir" or something like that in a tutorial, you must change it to whatever you are working on... Have you looked at the sources of CTKArch on the Download page? See the included instructions. The way I have organized the process can guide you. |

It seems it worked the iso boots no problems, so it took some time to understand.
But now everything works, it's a very basic iso. Thank u! |

I suggest that you make a list of what you removed (with diff, maybe), pastebin it and post the link here?

Calimero here it's a simple list but I'm going to make a new iso and try to make it lighter.
